Danny E. Cummins was elected to the National Board of Directors of WoodmenLife as National Secretary on Nov. 1, 2000. He was re-elected to that position by the delegates to the 2001 National Convention with a change in title to Executive Vice President, Operations and Secretary effective Aug. 1, 2001. Effective Oct. 1, 2008, Cummins was elected President and Chief Executive Officer. He served in that position until his retirement on Sept. 30, 2012. Cummins now serves on the National Board of Directors, where he’s a member of the Compensation Committee.

He has been a WoodmenLife member for 45 years.

A native of Brooksville, KY, Cummins received his B.S. in Education from Eastern Kentucky University and his Masters in Elementary Education from Morehead State University. Cummins served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of Chapter 872 in Brooksville. He began his WoodmenLife career as a part-time Representative in April 1982. In January 1985, he was promoted to Recruiting Sales Manager and on Jan. 1, 1991, he was appointed Regional Director of Texas Northeast, and his family moved to Tyler, TX. On Aug. 1, 1997, he was appointed Vice President and National Sales Manager, and he and his wife, Kathy, moved to Omaha.

Cummins earned both the Fraternal Insurance Counselor Fellow (FICF) and LIMRA (Life Insurance and Marketing Research Association), Leadership Institute Fellow (LLIF) designations. He has served as a member of the Board of the Fraternal Field Managers Association and as a member of the LIMRA Agency Building Committee.

Cummins received a variety of honors and awards as a member of the WoodmenLife Sales Force. He was named “Man of the Year” in Kentucky East in 1983, and in 1984, he earned the National First Place Quality Production Award. He received the Outstanding Recruiting Sales Manager of the Year Award in Kentucky East in 1986, 1987 and 1990. He was a member of WoodmenLife’s President’s Club and Cabinet for 15 years, the last 14 of which he was a Cabinet winner.

He serves on the Board of the American Saddlebred Museum as a National Trustee. Cummins and his wife, Kathy, live in Troup, TX, and have two children: son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Alaina Cummins; and daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Michael Cearley; three granddaughters, Gracie and Hannah Cearley, Remington Clare Cummins; and one grandson, Hagen Cummins.
