Robert Maher has served on the National Board of Directors of WoodmenLife since July 2013 when he was named Chief Financial Officer. A native of Omaha, Neb., Maher started his career with WoodmenLife in 1981 in the Systems and Planning Department. In 1986, he moved to the Investment Division, where he worked in Mortgage Loan, Real Estate and Securities roles, culminating in an appointment in 1999 to Assistant Vice President. In 2002, he was appointed Vice President, Investment Division Manager. Robert also served as Chairman of the Board of WFS Holdings, Inc. and Woodmen Financial Services, Inc. Maher was named Chief Financial Officer in 2013, and retired after a 38-year career. Maher was re-elected as a National Director in 2019.
Maher became a WoodmenLife member in 1981 and joined Alpha Chapter 16 in Omaha, Neb. He has held most chapter offices, including President. He is a past President of the Nebraska Jurisdiction and also a past President of the American Fraternal Alliance (AFA) Investment Section. Maher received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1981 and added a second degree in Real Estate in 1989. He also holds the following professional designations: Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB), and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Maher is a past Board Chairman of Junior Achievement of the Midlands, and remains active in community service through his local WoodmenLife Chapter 860 in Naples, Florida.
In his free time, Maher enjoys golf, beaches and travel. He and his wife, Christina, have two children, Luke and Madison.
