December 11, 2017

Jean Everhart has never stopped investing in her knowledge bank. She is always learning.

Thanks to that perseverance, she's mastering a new role—Director, Certificate Support & Assistant Chief Underwriter.

Everhart was promoted in October 2017 to this role, where she oversees more than two dozen people. She manages the areas that handle member service requests for insurance certificates. She also assists the Chief Underwriter in managing vendor relationships, evaluating underwriting policies and procedures, and handling escalated underwriting cases.

Everhart has been serving WoodmenLife members for 25 years, starting as a payment specialist the year she graduated from college. Her Accounting/Business Management degree from Peru State College has served her well as she’s risen through the ranks at WoodmenLife. She’s held various positions along the way, including:

  • Payment Specialist (1992–1996)
  • Underwriter (1996–2008)
  • Supervisor, Underwriting (2008–2012)
  • Supervisor, Entry and Underwriting (2012–2015)
  • Manager, Certificate Support from (2015–2017)

Everhart is dedicated to her profession and has earned various designations, including:

  • ACS (Associate, Customer Service) in 1996
  • FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) in 1998
  • FALU (Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting) in 2004
  • CLU (Charter Life Underwriter) in 2005

WoodmenLife President & CEO Pat Dees said Everhart has strong leadership skills and a well-rounded knowledge of WoodmenLife operations. "She’s been instrumental in identifying and implementing numerous process efficiencies to operational practices," Dees said.

When Everhart isn't working to keep WoodmenLife operations running smoothly, she enjoys spending time with her significant other and her dogs, Baxter and Roxie. She also likes to devote time to watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Chicago Bears, reading, and putting together puzzles.

Everhart has learned a great deal as she's built her successful career, and she is eager to encourage others to keep that curiosity and spirit of learning alive.
