Patriotism Prevails

This year has proven turbulent, with both sides of the political fence on edge. Seventy years ago, we were in similar turmoil following World War II. What do the two have to do with each other? Whether in 1947 or 2017, the one thing we can agree on is that we all love America.

As we celebrate the 70th anniversary of WoodmenLife’s patriotic program, I’m proud to say that since its start we have presented more than 3 million flags to nonprofit organizations throughout the country. Since the program’s launch in 1947, we’ve added In Honor and Remembrance ceremonies on 9/11, and just this year, we increased our First Responders Benefit to honor those who give so much to protect us every day.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of our military members and First Responders, as well as our dedicated members who help us celebrate this country and those who serve it. I’ll get to thank some of these members in person at our National Convention at the end of July. Here’s a fun fact for you; our patriotic program was first introduced at the 1947 WoodmenLife National Convention in New Orleans, La.

Today, our patriotic efforts are stronger than ever. WoodmenLife will continue to do our part in the decades to come. If you know of a nonprofit organization that needs a flag in your area or would like to get involved in WoodmenLife’s patriotic activities, please contact your local Representative.

This is just one of many stories about all we do at WoodmenLife. Want to know more about who we are, what we do and why we do it?
