Dr. James W. Bosler III of Louisville, KY, was elected to WoodmenLife’s National Board of Directors at the 2005 National Convention, which was held in Omaha, NE.

A WoodmenLife member since birth, he has served as President of Chapter 14 in Louisville, KY, and is a Past President of the Kentucky Jurisdiction. Over the years, Dr. Bosler has served in many WoodmenLife local, state and national positions, as well as those with the former Kentucky Fraternal Congress. One of his many honors was his appointment to National Fraternal Committee in 2003.

Dr. Bosler has a notable history of service to WoodmenLife and to his community. He served as Chief Medical Officer at the Bluegrass Woodmen Youth Camp in Lexington, KY. He is a Lifetime Member of the National Ski Patrol, and is currently Eastern High School’s Team Physician. Dr. Bosler earned our organization’s Top 10 National Youth Leadership Award in 1979, and was named our National Fraternalist of the Year in 2004.

Dr. Bosler is an Eagle Scout and a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He volunteers as an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America, is a tournament doctor for the Professional Golf Association (PGA) and is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary).

Dr. Bosler earned his degree in chemistry and was a varsity football letterman at the University of Louisville. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, graduating with an M.D. in 1989. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville and Affiliated Hospitals. He has been practicing internal medicine since 1992, and is a senior partner with in the private practice of Greater Louisville Internal Medicine, P.S.C.

Dr. Bosler has been certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and has received many distinguished awards in the field of medicine. He has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association yearly since 2006, and each year since 2007 has been named to the list of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. He is a member of local, state and national medical organizations, and a member of the American College of Physicians, as well as the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Bosler, a licensed pilot, uses his medical experience for a variety of activities, including service as an FAA-designated Senior Aviation Medical Examiner. He has served in areas of Aviation Accident Scene Resources, Medical Bioterrorism Response, Medical Informatics, and Illegal Drug Abuse Physician Education. In addition, Dr. Bosler serves on various medical committees promoting public and community outreach. He is a member of the Medical Ethics Committee and the Medical Society Athletic Committee. He is a volunteer consultant for many drug companies, advisory boards and seminars, and is a liaison to foster improved accessibility and affordability of medicines for the public.

Dr. Bosler enjoys photography, snow skiing, aviation, computer technology, genealogy, sports, and fitness activities. His father, James Bosler II, is a retired National Director, and his mother, the late Mary Etta Bosler, was elected our first female Jurisdictional President in 1965. Dr. Bosler has two daughters, Lauren and Caroline.
