Cathryn B. Mobley of Appomattox, VA, has been elected to the WoodmenLife National Board of Directors, effective Nov. 2, 2020.

Mobley has a long history of involvement and service with WoodmenLife. She has been a WoodmenLife member for 14 years and served on the National Fraternal Committee and as treasurer of Chapter 71 in Appomattox since 2018. She also served as Chapter President, Vice President, and Chapter Youth Leader. Mobley served as treasurer of the jurisdiction of Virginia from 2010–2015. She also held the position of state convention secretary and treasurer, and as trustee.

Mobley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in accounting and a Master of Business Administration degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA. She is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified University Procurement Officer (CUPO), Certified Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) and Certified Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO).

Mobley currently serves as Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance, Director of Materiel Management at Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Her responsibilities include oversight of accounts payable, student accounts, cashiering, fixed assets, post-award sponsored programs, general accounting, financial reporting, procurement, surplus warehouse, and risk management for the university. She establishes and ensures that university accounting and procurement policies are followed. In addition to reviewing contracts to ensure that terms are acceptable to the university and responding to external and internal auditor inquiries, she also serves on the university implementation team for the Commonwealth of Virginia replacement Human Capital Management System project. Mobley also serves as the university representative to the Virginia Association of State College and University Purchasing Professionals (VASCUPP) and to the Fiscal Officers of Colleges and Universities State Supported (FOCUS) groups.

Other tenures in her 31 years of state service included serving as Purchasing Manager and Business Manager at Central Virginia Community College in Lynchburg, VA. She also served as Accounting and Financial Reporting Director at Longwood University and as Staff Auditor at the Commonwealth of Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts.

She received the Longwood University Outstanding Service Award, the WoodmenLife Fraternal Spirit Award and the Virginia Community College Association Classified Staff Showcase Award. Mobley also was the recipient of the Dr. Robert E. Craft Leadership Award by Lynchburg College and was a member of the Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lynchburg 35 Team of the Year.

Mobley is active in her community, currently supporting and holding committee, teaching and leadership positions at the Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen Ruritan Club and Evergreen Cemetery Fund. She has previous involvement with United Way, Junior Achievement, Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce, and Cornerstone Christian Academy.

Mobley holds the personal beliefs and values to be honest in her work and personal life, support and encourage those around her; be accountable for her mistakes; be concerned with the good of others, and to act unselfishly.

She is the daughter of Jackie J. Ballowe and the late Ralph M. Ballowe of Appomattox, VA. She is married to her husband Larry, and they have a daughter, Becky. Mobley enjoys spending time with her family and friends, golfing, collecting and driving vintage cars, and supporting their church and community.
